NEWS – Ends CIQA Project

Ends CIQA Project for Optimizing Candelilla Wax Removal.
OCT. 01/2008

This last December the Center for Research in Applied Chemistry (CIQA) in conjunction with the Institute of Candelilla ended a major project related to the candelilla wax extraction efficiency.

One concern of the Institute has been to make the extraction process more efficient, and that is why we conducted this study that will implement a solvent extraction process by which gives 300% more performance than the current process.

This project reviewed two very important aspects:

1) As a first step, presented the conceptual engineering development of a pilot plant for the extraction and purification of candelilla wax.

2) As the second development stage the basic engineering of a pilot plant for the extraction and purification process candelilla wax.

It is expected that this project helps to increase the presence of the candelilla wax in the national and international markets.
